The bedroom is one of the places where we spend most of our time. Proper rest in bed is essential for a fulfilling life. We know that experts recommend sleeping between 7 and 9 hours. But not only the amount of time is important, but you also need to avoid really bad habits…

1. Sleeping with technology devices such as cell phones or tablets is not recommended.
These devices may have negative radiation.
This is definitely something I learned to remove from my bedside. I moved my smartphone as far as possible. And looking back, I can say that it was a smart decision. I started sleeping a little bit better.
That way I learned not to check my social media and to spend less time on it. It gave me more time to have a good night’s sleep.

2. Watching TV before bed is a bad habit in many cases.
Because of this, our brains cannot fully relax. Many people cannot fall asleep without watching TV before bed. However, it would be better to turn it off at least an hour before bedtime.
I’m still learning to use this in my life… What I’m learning is to use this hour for meditation.

3. We often discuss something before going to bed, which also affects our psychology.
Talking is a habit that can lead to health problems. The bed should be a “sacred” place. Even though this is no problem for me, I know people who have a tendency into trying to solve problems with their partners before they go to sleep. Sometimes it doesn’t end in the best way, and they go to sleep angry, sometimes overthinking.

4. If you usually surf the Internet, you should know that the Internet is full of entertainment that can make us spend hours without noticing it.
So don’t waste your time. Yes, this is something I already wrote in the first paragraph. And still, we can find so many amazing things to enjoy, that we get lost in time. We just end up realizing it in the early morning, and understanding that we have left only a few hours to sleep.

5. Sleep should never be associated with work.
According to a recent study, many work from their bed. This is very bad! Our brain confuses the wrong place to work with a place to rest. I think this might be taken into consideration even when we have a bed and work table in the same room. A bedroom should be completely left for resting and sleeping.
If you are reading this article in bed, I recommend that you turn off your smartphone! I hope that I have helped you a little.
